Disney to Buy Lucasfilm for $4.05 Billion; New Star Wars on the Way

As recently annoucned, The Walt Disney Company has officially acquired Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion in cash and stock. Not resting on their laurels, the company has already announced a new Star Wars film for 2015.

The current co-chair of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy is slated to become the newest president of the subsidiary reporting to Disney’s Alan Horn.

For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next, It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on” - George Lucas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lucasfilm

This is massive news in the world of pop culture and we will have more as it comes in.
