It’s getting close to that time of year again, where the television airwaves will be bombarded with Charlie Brown and Peanuts themed specials. With the classic characters appearing every year for what seems like eternity, it was only a matter of time before someone decided to make a feature film.

That time has come, with Deadline reporting that Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios have teamed up to adapt Charles Shulz’ famed comic strip into a feature film.

Thankfully the studios will be sticking to their roots, making an animated feature, instead of opting for the trendy live-action or CGI film.

Even more good news comes with the fact that the script will be written by Craig and Brian Schulz, who are Charles Schulz’ son and grandson respectively. Steve Martino, of Ice Age: Continental Drift fame, will then direct the film.

The feature is set for release on November 25, 2015, which is the comic strip’s 65th anniversary and the 50th anniversary for the TV special A Charlie Brown Christmas.
