Unfortunate news for hipsters today. Justin Vernon’s wildly successful music project Bon Iver may be coming to an end sooner rather than later.

After releasing the massive hit album last year, Vernon and his band have been touring non-stop. Last night, Vernon appeared on Minnesota Public radio station 89.3 The Current’s Local Show. When he was questioned about the future of the band, he had this to say:

“Winding it down. I look at it like a faucet. I have to turn it off and walk away from it because so much of how that music comes together is subconscious or discovering. There’s so much attention on the band, it can be distracting at times. I really feel the need to walk away from it while I still care about. And then if I come back to it – if at all – I’ll feel better about it and be renewed or something to do that.”

So, the hipster phenomenon that is Bon Iver could be no more, but let’s be honest, Vernon’s reasoning is sound.

If you feel like crying your eyes out because of the news, you can stream the bands full concert from Radio City Music Hall on YouTube for the next two days.
