If you live in Columbia, Maryland it looks like your autumn just got a whole lot better. It was announced today that on October 6th, The Virgin Mobile Free Fest will make its return to the Merriweather Post Pavilion venue. The festival boasts a lineup topped by Jack White, Skrillex, M83, Nas, and ZZ Top.
What separates this festival from others, who have curated similar lineups this season, is that tickets to this one are given away for free. Tickets will be made available to the public at noon EDT on August 24th via Ticketfly. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase “FREEMIUM PACKAGES”, which will include admission to the festival, a FreeFEst T-Shirt, a souvenir cup that can be used for free fountain drinks throughout the festival weekend, and early admission to the festival grounds. Not a bad deal when the proceeds from these packages will be going towards Virgin Mobile USA’s youth homeless initiatives. These tickets will be available on TIcketFly along with the free tickets.
Rounding out the weekends linup will be Santigold, Alabama Shakes, Allen Stone, Trampled by Turtles, Portugal. The Man, Das Racist, Future Islands, and Justin Jones. The Dance Forest will feature Above & Beyond, Porter & Zedd (Back to Back), Thomas Gold, Nervo, Alvin Risk, and Penguin Prison.
A hipster’s paradise; well-done Virgin.
