A rather uninformed Staten Island borough president, James P. Molinaro is no fan of Lady Gaga and her pulsating beats. He especially isn’t a fan of drugs. Put those two things together, and Molinaro is in a state of unrest.
Recently, Gaga smoked a joint while on stage in Amsterdam. This has lead Malinaro, who is promoting a new neighborhood anti-drug program, to say some pretty awful things about the star.
Speaking to the Staten Island Advocate he said:
“We have to understand that there’s a tremendous influence with our youth, which I didn’t have as a youth, and there’s the influence right there. Stop glorifying drug use. There’s Gaga. Here’s this… this… I would call her a slut. This slut is influencing many, many children.”
The New York Times called out Malinaro on his derogatory language, but he argued semantics, claiming the word didn’t have to infer a sexual meaning, but could rather simply imply improper conduct.
“Looking up the word ‘slut’ to see if it was properly used before I used it, it said “improper conduct. Now, isn’t it improper for someone who is so high profile to be smoking reefer in front of children? I have grandnieces that idolize her - 12 and 13 years old – and it’s ridiculous. You see these young girls walking around on Halloween with her outfit on”
The 81-year-old certainly has a slew of radical opinions, but I hate to break it to Malinaro, that Gaga most definitely wasn’t the only one smoking “the reefer” at that concert. In fact, it’s obviously much more widespread than he is lead to believe. Can’t we all just agree, that crack is wack, and pot… well pot, is just not? It sounds like Malinaro could use some of the stuff himself, and needs to chill.
