British television is about to get a whole lot more diverse, as Sir Ian McKellen tests his range as an actor.
The UK network, ITV, just signed the star to appear in a new series entitled “Vicious Old Queens,” in which McKellen will star alongside Derek Jacobi. The sitcom will center on the two actors who will portray an elderly gay couple.
This shouldn’t be too difficult for the two actors though, seeing as they both prefer men in their real lives.
The show has been commissioned for a series of six 30-minute episodes and is expected to hit the air in April 2013.
The show appears to be in good hands already, having Family Guy and Will and Grace writer producer Gary Janetti on board.
Forget The Hobbit, this is the Gandalf I want to see.
