Harrison Ford has stated he is open to the idea of reprising his role as Han Solo for the upcoming Star Wars reboot in 2015.
“Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he’s upbeat about it, all three of them are,” said one highly placed source, referring to Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher, the group of actors who launched their respective careers with Star Wars.
This is suprising though, given that Ford said in an interview with ABC in 2010 that “as a character, he was not so interesting to me.” Referring to his role as Han Solo. The actor has remained relatively mum on the topic of his time spent in the Star Wars universe, declining invitations to public events for years.
In 2010 he appeared at a 30th anniversary screening of The Empire Strikes Back and nervously said, “I don’t know that I understood it very well,” Ford said in a flat tone of the franchise’s ascension in popular culture. “I’m not sure I understand it yet…I was very happy to be involved. I was pleased to be a part of an ensemble.”
Hopefully he understands it by 2015 and this will end in good news though for Star Wars purists.
