The most recent story of “is this happening too soon?” comes from Denmark, where a theatre version of Amy Winehouse’s life is set to open in a few months.
The play will center on Winehouse’s rise to fame, and subsequent fall to drugs and short-tempered relationships. Produced by the Danish Royal Theatre, “Amy” will open January 2013.
A statement from the company regarding the sensationalist play stated that “Amy” will show “the enormous pressure a sensationalist public put on a young superstar when her problems began.
The play was written by a team of 11 people, under the synonym “Det roede rum” who wrote a script pieced together through concerts and interviews.
Amy Winehouse passed away in July of 2011. “Amy” opens January 2013.
