In a horrific display of fandom for James Holmes, the shooter from Friday’s Dark Knight Rises massacre, fanpages have been popping up all over Facebook. The most popular of which (displayed above) has been gaining traction of late and is exploiting this with frequent postings regarding the shootings as if from James’ perspective.
On the page there are posts that mock the victims of the shooting, photoshopped images of Holmes receiving the Medal of Honor from President Obama, James Holmes memes, and more.
The fanpage has yet to be shutdown despite numerous requests to Facebook. Here’s a post from the account made just yesterday:
I want you guys to understand this.
Whatever you have to say to me, I don’t care.
Whenever you report me. This page isn’t affected. (I’ve been reported over like a billion times and nothing has happened)
And if you are going to try and report me, stop wasting your time by telling me and others. I don’t give a shit.
Also, I don’t believe in karma, and I don’t believe in hell. Please keep this in mind when you post. Unless its something smart or funny, Please know; I’m just going to laugh at you and all you’re doing is wasting your time.
Thanks.
Whether or not this is worthy of a Facebook shutdown, I truly believe this is morally offensive to all families and friends of those involved in the shootings. Simply put, this is wrong.
